In the face of the many challenges facing our industry and our world, The Assembly is recommitting to our core mission: to build community, invest in process, and uplift artists’ dream projects. From our premieres and educational workshops to Harpo’s Salon and the Deceleration Lab, we have found countless ways to dream forward.

We've asked artists in our community to talk about a few of these projects, as a celebration of the breadth of incredible work that we've had the privilege to support.

Dream with us! Support The Assembly.

“Deceleration Lab allowed us to do something that we'd never done before: collaboratively create and perform a new work of music theater that drew both from dense historical source material as well as from our own lives. By focusing on process rather than product, the Lab gave us space to dream big and think expansively about utopia, God, gender, and the end of the world. From that space, we created a show that continues to change, grow, and resonate with the audience on a deep level over the course of its many iterations—like at HERE this December! Thanks, the Assembly!!"

OUR 2024 HIGHLIGHTS & DREAMS FOR 2025!

“The Marx Sisters project has been an inkling of mine for over a decade. It’s been so difficult to start both because it requires people together in a room, and because it’s very personal to me, and that’s scary. To explore gender and social norms, order and chaos in my beloved artistic home is a dream come true.”
